About Leadership 101

Hello, Friends.

My name is Barb Lorello. I’ve been in a leadership position for over forty-five years. Whether it was at home, raising my children, as a business owner, or working in corporate America, it has been my life’s calling to lead and mentor people. Most of my work has been with people younger than myself, who want to understand how to be a better leader.

Along with forty five years of experience, I am a published author. My book, In My Hands, leads the reader through a spiritual and practical journey about caring for older parents and allowing them to die with dignity. In 2017, I also wrote daily on a blog called His Mysterious Ways, where I wrote about people and things in my life that have happened but were not coincidences.

This place, Leadership 101, will be my platform to provide simple steps, comical stories, and what I hope is sage advice to help you in your leadership journey. I’ve mentored hundreds of people in person and now want to spread my wings, so to say, so I can get this message out to a wider audience.

There are thousands of leadership books, programs, and speakers. Most of these books I’ve read. Each one has given me something unique that I’ve incorporated into my style. During my early years I relied on the guidance of Steven Covey as I honed my craft. I also relied heavily on spiritual guidance from the likes of Dr. Wayne Dyer and Deepak Chopra.

Not all of us are meant to be leaders. After all, leaders need someone to lead. Some of us are born leaders, it was ingrained from an early age. If you were that bossy schoolteacher in your make-believe classroom, leadership probably comes easy to you. That’s not to say if you played the part of the compliant student that you can’t learn to be a leader. It’s just going to be a lengthier study than if you come by it naturally. We can get there.

Each week I’ll provide insight into different topics as they relate to learning to be a great leader. I’ll be transparent about the mistakes I’ve made throughout my journey in hopes that you won’t make the same mistakes. I’ll also provide insight into my triumphs, so that you can have that in your arsenal as you move through your journey.

I am a spiritual person, lead through life by a greater power. Leadership is my purpose for being here. The opportunity to mentor and coach people is my calling. I compelled to help. This website will evolve. Much of my writing comes through me which means it may look like seeing a squirrel from time to time. But I hope it will all be informative and helpful.

Let’s hunker down, hang on tight, and venture into the world of great leadership. It’s gonna be one hell of a ride.
